This Month’s issue of JADE magazine has been published with one of my images on the the Front Cover – looks great. Image it titled Face-Off and features Iveta as the model. Image it lit with three lights, two more than I usually use! They are all fitted with grids, two on the backdrop and one on the model.
I held a photography tuition workshop on Saturday 2nd April at Bananastudio in Newcastle. Eric the studio owner and his team of Adrian and Alisia really looked after us all and made us feel at home. On the Friday night 1st April we had a meet and greet session which made it easier on the Saturday as everyone had already met each other.
On the session we had 10 photographers and 6 models, one of which was Iveta who was helping me out for the day with posing and demonstrating the lighting setups. The day started by talking through how to use a light meter and the basic camera settings so we could all start off from the same footing. Afterwards, I demonstrated the 3 different lighting setups that we were to start with. All these setups were using a single light. I’m a great believer in people becoming proficient with a single light, before adding a second or third.
We then split into three groups and started to shoot each of the setups, rotating round each setup once everyone had shot the scene. We soon found that photographers and models were getting to know each other suggesting props, helping each other out by moving lights, reviewing each other’s images and chatting and learning from each other.
Below are some of my images from the session together with some images taken by the attendees. I’ve given credit to each author in the caption. I love the fact that we all were in the same location shooting similar setups but no-one has exactly the same image – this is where creativity and people’s individuality shows.
I’d like to say thank you to all the attendees, both photographers and models worked hard all day long and had some wonderful images to show for their commitment and enthusiasm. Thank you too to Eric, Adrian and Alisia at Bananastudio who looked after me and all the attendees throughout the day. They were organised and professional from start to finish, thanks guys, I’ll be seeing you again.
Update: 21st March – only 3 model places at a reduced price of £65 per model
I’m running a workshop at Bananastudio, Newcastle on Saturday April 2nd 2011. The workshop has places for 10 photographers and 5 models. Bananastudio is a great studio situated right in the middle of Newcastle. Iveta will be at the workshop helping me out with her brilliant modelling and creative skills.
The session is for models and photographers to learn new skills and go away with fresh images they can be proud of. John will take time to individually photograph all the models throughout the course of the day.
I always look forward to working with Iveta as she is without doubt one of the most creative models I’ve had the honour and pleasure to work with. I can count on one hand the models who fit into this category, sadly there’s not many of them. I guess it’s a bit like anyone who is brilliant at what they do, they are a single shinning star in a dark night sky.
I like working with creative models, but when you get the chance to work with two creative models the shoot steps up another gear and you get work together to get some wonderful, fun and memorable shots. I love working with both these models, they are fun, creative and above all committed to putting in 100% to get great images. Enjoy the shots from this shoot.
I’m just towards the end of editing images for two new books that will be available in time for Erotica 2010, the adult lifestyle show in London Olympia at the end of November, 19-21 November. Erotica 2010 link
The first book, titled Triptych, will be a collection of images from a trip to Spain with three models; Iveta, Roswell Ivory and Anita DeBauch. The book will also feature the work of John Evans and Gregory Brown who where the other two photographers on the trip. Each photographer has featured 40 images from the weeks trip making 120 image in total.

I will also be updating the popular book of Joceline that I published for last year’s Erotica. This will feature new work that we have done since the initial book was published.

The second new book, titled Collaboration – dancer & artist, will be a collection of the photographic work I’ve done with KatyCee. She is a wonderful model to work with; I’ve included a few images from the book below:
I’ve just had notification of two of my images, shown below, being accepted into the 2010 Erotic Signature Competition. This is an annual international competition which produces a rather sumptuous book of the winners art, plus a tour of the exhibition in the States. Click for full list of winners <off-site link>
In March 2010 I went to Spain with three models and two other photographers. The models who came along were:
The two photographer friends were, Gregory Brown and John Evans. It’s now set as a regular trip. Gregory and I met on a trip to Spain organised by another photographer and we got on so well we decided to organise our own trip to a different part of Spain. Greg and I had done a long-weekend recce of the Murcia area and managed to plug about 30 locations into the sat nav, plus we often find one or two places whilst we are there. This year John joined our trip for what I hope is the first of many such trips.
